The city of Nice (NEES) sits on the French Riviera near the Italian border in the SE corner of France. That resort area known as Cote d'Azur includes well-known resort towns such as Cannes, St. Tropez, Monte Carlo (Monaco), and San Remo (Italy). People come here for the topless beaches and the blue Mediterranean waters, and we were no exceptions.
The first order of business after dumping our stuff off at the hotel was to hit the beach. Here we are at Place Massena, the main square in Nice next to the beach, with the magic fountain behind us. The fountain was magical because it would come on every time Scott took a picture, but shut off when others tried. You can see we have our swimsuits on and ready for the water!
Ever wanted to try parasailing? Russ and I decided to give it a whirl. One, two, three, and we have lift off!
Wow! That was awesome. We got some spectacular views of the city up there. It was a very smooth ride, not the roller-coaster thrill I was expecting, but a pleasant experience all around. Here we are coming in for a landing.
A view of Plage de Nice, which has mostly medium sized pebbles. I actually like it better than sand 'cause it doesn't stick to you.
At the end of the beach, there's a hill with a château on top. Here I am in front of the waterfall just below the château. Below the hill there's a nice (no pun intended) restaurant area in Old Nice where we had dinner. Talk about fresh seafood! Yum!
